What many don’t know is the perennial Christmas favorite was originally an Easter offering.
It was first performed at the Musick Hall in Dublin on April 13, 1742. The Handel and Haydn Society in Boston gave a complete performance on Christmas Day in 1818 and, partly because of the first movement, it has become a Christmas tradition.
It has also become one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.
This has become a biennial tradition and we’re looking forward to presenting it to you. Tickets are on sale now! You won’t want to miss it!
